Behind the Wheel and Beyond: My Story
Hey there, fellow adventurers! I’m thrilled you’ve landed on Roadsips – travel blog and your guide to discovering Europe on four wheels, uncovering the vibrant heart of Serbia and exploring the fascinating world of gin.
My love for the open road began early, etched into my memory by yearly family road trips from the Balkans to Greece. The soundtrack? Always The Gipsy Kings, a CD I still know all the words to! That’s where the passion for miles and music truly clicked. Getting my driver’s license was pure freedom, instantly turning local adventures with friends into soundtracked explorations.
Those local drives soon morphed into epic European road trips, country after country. There’s just something unique about experiencing Europe from behind the wheel (or as the designated passenger princess). While distant destinations like Egypt or Cuba call for a plane ticket – different adventures for different distances, right? – for anything closer, you’ll find me on the road. Living in Belgrade, exploring the Balkans in my own car is a breeze. For other European escapades, I’m usually renting a car, always ready for whatever new roads lie ahead.
My travel philosophy
My travel philosophy is simple: embrace the journey. For me, that often means hitting the open road. I have a theory that for distances up to 1000km, driving often rivals flying in efficiency when you consider airport hassles and car rentals – plus, you have your own wheels upon arrival! This love of independent exploration fuels my adventures through Europe’s diverse landscapes and the captivating beauty of Serbia, always with an eye out for unique gin experiences and those hidden gems only a car can uncover. This blog is where I share that freedom and inspire you to find your own detours.
My Love Affair with Gin
My journey with gin goes way back – over fifteen years now! It all started quite randomly at a bar. I was in that classic “don’t know what to order” situation, wanting something beyond the usual juice-vodka or tequila shot. The bartender suggested a gin and tonic, and honestly, it was love at first sip. That crisp, botanical flavor just clicked with me, and my appreciation has only grown since. With the recent boom in craft distilleries, especially in Europe, one of my favorite things to do while traveling is to seek out local gin producers and sample their unique creations. There’s a real artistry to it, and it’s a fantastic way to taste the local terroir in a glass.
Travel Blog in 2025
For years, my professional life revolved around building a company, growing it to 27 employees. It was an incredible journey and I learned so much – especially about digital marketing, a field I dove into headfirst while building campaigns and watching my business flourish. But last June, I made a significant change: I sold my company. And ever since, my focus has been simple: to travel.
In a world buzzing with quick videos and fleeting social media posts, I still deeply believe in the power of well-researched, detailed stories. I’m one of those people who spends hours digging for information before a trip – the kind who loves to truly read, research and understand a place before arriving. And I know I’m not alone. This is the main reason why I started RoadSips travel blog in 2025 and dedicated it to this kind of a traveler.
